It rained so hard one day that a lot of the campsites were flooded. It took about two days to go away for the worst sites. At our spot, it didn't take very long to get rid of the puddles outside the door. I took some pictures afterwards when the sun came out on our walk. This happened on a Tuesday and then on Thursday another rain and it did it again but not quite as bad.
There were some sites that weren't able to be used until quite a few days later. At least, the sun seems to always come out after the storms.
A new road for the national park just opened a couple of days before we got there. They re-routed the road to go further from the gulf because it would flood in the storms. You are given notice to either stay and may not get out for a few days or leave before the storm hits. Well, the new road did help; however, when we went out the next day, there still areas of water over the road that we had to drive in.

Fort Pickens and Blue Angels Viewing (again)
We walked all over Fort Pickens one afternoon. You get to go on top and all over inside the fort. Also, there is a beach on the coastal bay side to fish and swim.
Down at the fort, you are straight across from the Naval Air Station. One night we were at the table eating supper and we heard a very loud noise of aircraft (more than usual). It was the Blue Angels coming back from Lakeland, FL for a demonstration. But, with them came the French Aviation pilots that were also at that event.
The next two pics are ours down at the fort. Watching them here you get to see where they go after they perform at the viewing area in front of the crowd. Also, they fly right over top of your head. VERY LOUD!
Pensacola Beach
The water tower painted like a beach ball located in the large parking lot at Casino beach. |
This was on one of the buildings on the boardwalk. Reminded us of the car we had in Germany and mine in college.
Following two pics are also of the boardwalk. It is on the bayside. Mostly expensive stores and restaurants.
Home from Winter Vacation 2017
We left Pensacola Beach/Ft. Pickens National Park on Wednesday, April 12. Stayed at the Texas-T Campground in Cornersville, TN and the next night at Lake Haven Campground in Indianapolis. We arrived home about 2 o'clock on Friday. Great weather driving back home. It just got a little windy last day coming into Michigan.
I will put in a few of the pictures I took while there. It was the internet that wouldn't let me post before. Guess just too far out.

Our Time at Ft. Pickens National Park
We are having a great time here. Seeing things but also resting and taking it easy before we head back on Wednesday. My computer isn't running real good right now. It is very slow. It might be the Internet way out here. Having trouble downloading my pictures from my phone to the computer by Dropbox. So, when I'm able I'll post them.

Last Days in Gulf Shores
On this past Wednesday, we all went to the Naval Air Museum to see the Blue Angels practice. They practice on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the summer. This week was their first week. We waited on the highway for quite awhile even before we got unto the base. We ended up parking in a parking lot that was quite a ways away. We were in the first row and when we came back, it was full and so was any place on grass, etc. that people could find a space. We brought in our own chairs but you could rent some for $3. The bleachers were filled quickly. We left at 9 a.m. and the show started at 11:30. We were able to put our chairs in a pretty good spot. The show was really good and loud. We got scared when coming from out of nowhere was a very loud roar and one plane coming low at 700 miles an hour right in front of us! Very hard to get pictures. Linda D.J. got some good ones because she just kept clicking away. I got a few good videos (couldn't get them to download to the computer.)
Today, Thursday, we are having a heavy rain storm this afternoon. Again, missing the really bad stuff. We met each other at the laundromat this morning. It was busy because of the snowbirds heading home. A lot of rv's left today, some tomorrow (like both of us), and loads on Saturday. However, more are coming in because spring breaks aren't over yet.

Dolphin Cruise
Tuesday we made good on our gift certificate that we gave Ron and Linda at their 35th wedding anniversary party last July.

The other boat |
It was very hard to get a picture of the dolphins because they are so much quicker than our phones can capture them.
Here are some pics of us on board.
