Last Days at Narvarre

We are having at least 15 degrees warmer temperature than usual down here. Spending time between the beach and the pool.
The azalea bushes have been blooming way ahead of time. We have two next to our motor home that are in full bloom. The two best in the campground.

This rv resort has been sold to another company who bought the property next  to it plus some other campgrounds. So, instead of having the Mardi Gras festivities on February 28, they had to have it on the 27th, because that new company takes over on the 28th.

There was a parade in the park with campers. Some of them participated in a poker run picking up cards at a few campsites. After the parade we all had a piece of a cake called King Cake which is what they eat in place of our paczki.

We are sitting just across the street. The two men on the left are from Carl's old neighbor hood with their wives the two on the right.

The King and Queen

The two kids that are in the rv next to us.

Some dogs walking  dressed up too with beads
And, some dogs got to ride
Other dogs just watched

We are leaving here tomorrow for Gulf Shores to the state park.
Sun screen is off and Travie is checking everything out for the ride.

After Church Today

After church, we stopped and picked up muffins and headed home for coffee and reading the newspaper. Then, it was off to the pool. We were there a couple of hours swimming, sitting in the hot tub, and drying off in the lounge chairs.

Rest of the afternoon, relaxing and reading. Now heading out to grill supper. Can't beat that!

Pics Around the Park

Carl and I took a walk around the campground the other evening before dark and snapped at few pics of the park.

Visit with Friends

Yesterday, we took a ride with Ron and Linda to Panama City Beach to meet up with friends (John and Janice Berrevoets and Roger and Marcia De Vries.) On the way there, we took the scenic route on 30A. To our surprise when we arrived, some other friends (Mel and Sharon Vande Gevel) that are staying in Destin pulled into the parking lot to meet up with some of their friends. We had a nice long lunch at the Olive Garden catching up on news from way back to recent.

When we got back, Ron and Linda came over to our place and we had strawberry shortcake and chocolates while we watched a little TV.

Here are a few pics I took at night around the Narvarre Campground.
There are little Tiki decorations all around the area.

Good day for relaxing and cleaning up around the motor home. Started out sunny, but the clouds are beginning to come in. Suppose to have rain and maybe a storm late tonight or tomorrow.

So far Valentine Week

In the mornings around 8:30 a.m. Ron and Linda come by and we all head out for our walk of at least two times around the entire Campground. Monday morning we decided to go out for a quick breakfast at Burger King. Had a lot of fun just sitting there talking and being silly. Not looking our best--straight out of bed, grab some clothes, and head out for the daily walk.

Back home, we headed for the pool enjoying a relaxing day reading, swimming, and hot tubbing. Here is a couple of pics. They didn't turn out too good because of shadows from the trees.

Carl and I went grocery shopping for a few specials and he bought me some flowers and candy for Valentine's day. Linda did laundry and Ron golfed. That evening we went to the  Shrimp Basket for dinner.  It was super crowded but good food.

Today, Wednesday, we drove into Fort Walton Beach and went to flea markets and antique stores.  We had lunch at a Whataburger. Very good but big hamburgers.

Our Saturday

We started off going to the club house for a breakfast of biscuits and gravy and eggs. In the afternoon Carl and I went to Navarre Beach in the afternoon.
Lots of families out enjoying the beautiful weather.
That is the pier with loads of fishermen.

There are a few condos and homes on Navarre Beach.  When you go down the road a bit you drive the rest of the way to Pensacola Beach on the National Sea Shore with the gulf on one side and the bay on the other.

This beach has loads of shells. One lady was up to her knees with a net bringing them in.

The water was not bad to walk in. Better than some times at home in Lake Michigan. The waves were too big to go in because your feet just sunk right in and easy to lose your balance. We just walked down the beach.

Travie came down with us today. He needed to get out for a while. He started out in the chair but enjoyed the sand more.

Today we to church. DeJong's went along too. It was a Methodist Church a lot like ours at home. A few from the campground were there too. Dad started to talking with the one guy and found out they went to the same grade school and know some of his friends. (Dad knew who he was but was not a close friend to him.) Both couples are from Jenison.

Our Past Week

We all took a ride to Fort Pickens National Park where we will be staying from March 31 until we come home. We drove out on the National Sea Shore and came back by way of Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. Just kind of hanging around enjoying the park. Ran into Ron and Linda in the grocery one day and ended up getting Chinese take out. Got home and sat outside eating. Just finished up and felt sprinkles and we had a thunder storm.

Ron golfed on Thursday, so Linda went with us over the bridge to Navarre Beach. We are staying on the bay but the beach is on the gulf.
Linda enjoying the sea breeze and sun.

Friday Carl drove us all the way out to Fort Walton Beach. We turned around just before the bridge to Destin. Came back home and rested awhile reading.
It's hard to see but we have our Mardi Gras beads hanging. Have some on our mirrors too.

This bush by our lot just started blooming since we got here.

This is the sign as we drive in.

A Little Under the Weather

A little under the weather for two of us. Although the weather is a little cooler today but sunny.

Linda D. had to go to urgent care the other day because she can't get rid of her cough and cold. They put her on antibiotics, cough syrup with codeine, Musinex, a couple of breathing treatments and steroid pills. Said it was bronchitis and gave her a shot. She still isn't feeling well. Then today after breakfast, she threw up.  Too much stuff in her.

Yesterday, Carl went to urgent care because he has had the diarrhea for almost a week. He can't get rid of it. They were not much help because it was Saturday. Told him to drink something with electrolytes.  By night time, he said lets go to the hospital. There they gave him a prescription and some vials to fill with stool samples. Delivered them back to hospital today. Haven't heard back yet. This is all happening because he was on antibiotics for almost three weeks with his cellulitis. Neither doctor he had said that this could happen.

Ron and I are ok. Tonight is a super bowl party with pulled pork sandwiches, beans, chips and dip and beer. We all paid to go. Looks like we will go down and two of us will eat. The other two will probably bring their sandwich back home. Doubt we will stay for the game. Have to watch it back at the motorhome.
